Article on 1995 and British India Notes (Notes)

by santoshyadav, Saturday, December 04, 2010, 03:31 PM (4893 days ago)

Dear All,

Does anyone really have a 1995 one rupee note..I am willing to pay a decent amount

the note should have the signature of montek singh ahluwalia
the note should have the year 1995 clearly printed
the note should be in uncirculated condition

let me make this a little more detailed...

One of the common problems that a I face over rice-puller and many other sites is
...as to how to check.,....whether the seller actually has the ORIGINAL material/notes/coins that he/she is trying to sell online.
the answer is very simple...ask them to show the video.....online....
now sellers will say.....it is not possible to show videos to everyone....and it is not possible to buy a computer or webcam and it is expensive and / or blah blah blah...

if a seller is expecting to earn a lot of money, then at least the seller should have enough money to go to a cyber cafe and upload a video on www.youtube.com or any other similar free for uploading and free for viewing kind of a site ...and if the seller does not know how to upload a video online, the seller can take help from a friend or from anyone from the cyber cafe....
Some people can rightly argue that even in a video the genuineness cannot be guaranteed….

ok agreed even in a video , we can’t guarantee that the item is 100 percent
genuine, but atleast by looking at the video we can judge four things:

1.) The seller has something atleast in his/her possession that looks like the original, so it is worth traveling to a distant and far off city to check the authenticity of the product.

2.) We also get a fair idea by seeing other videos posted by the seller on the same website ...as to what kind of a seller that person is.

3.) A scan can be distributed by anyone to anyone, even though the person posing as a seller is not the actual seller but just a mediator,……… but ……..it is a different case….holding the product in his own hands…. and showing the ownership possession will definitely make a difference.

4.) Some people don’t even have scans…. forget expecting videos.

Dear all friends , I have been searching for a genuine 1995 one rupee note for more then 6 months now...but have'n't even seen one...

People and experts argue on the fact that a 1995 note was never printed, but everyone is aware and everyone agrees that british india notes were used in olden days and were in circulation ....

Apart from the 1995 one rupee note....If you try a little hard you will get british india notes with your friends and relatives and specially elderly people,

I cannot promise that you will earn crores and crores of rupees or lakhs of rupees, but definitely a few thousand rupees.

an average british India note having a picture of george vi is sold between INR One Thousand to One Lakh……..
and
an average british India note having a picture of george v is sold between INR five Thousand to Two Lakhs……..

Please always check the watermark, the print quality, the paper quality of the note, also show the note to people who know little more about the currency then yourself and ask them for their opinion before trying to sell a note….

please note that a lot of factors decide the rate of the currency…we don’t buy any paper money that is torn or has a tape or holes other then the normal stapler pin holes.

I am willing to buy your ORIGINAL INDIAN ANTIQUE CURRENCY including 1995 one rupee note, but I will require proper scans and videos.

You will also be required to travel to INDORE, M.P. at your own expense and if for any reason …Me or any of my testers have the slightest doubt …we will not buy your item…..

The worst thing that can ever happen to you while dealing with True value computers and antiques ..is, you will loose is your travel expense only....nothing more ....

Please always quote your price for your product ….don’t inquire/call to just get rates

To know more about us and the current INDIAN ANTIQUE CURRENCY that we have available to sell….please visit www.youtube.com and type “truevaluecurrency” in the search fields and you will see some of the videos posted by us....if you have any direct requirements please contact me at 9926-777-123

I am also posting a few requirements with my buying rates...please note my buying rate will always be 50% of the market rate,

For Example: if i sell a one rupee note of 1950 having A FLORAL DESIGN in the reverse side of the note instead of the year in used condition without any tear/tape/holes for rupees 1,000 then I buy the same at rupees 500.

Required:
1935 One Rupee Note
1940 One Rupee Note
1949 One Rupee Note
1952 One Rupee Note Bundle
1964 One Rupee Note
1995 One Rupee Note
Any note signed by C.D. Deshmukh
Any East India Company Notes(British Notes)

This message was regarding INDIAN ANTIQUE CURRENCY Only.
Best of luck and good wishes to everyone!!!!

1995 & 1982 - Important Information

by santoshyadav, Sunday, December 05, 2010, 09:34 PM (4892 days ago) @ santoshyadav

Dear All,

I want to share some important information about the 1982 and 1995 one rupee notes

I do get a few calls every other day wherein people expect to sell their one rupee notes for a high value other then the actual market price because they see unbelievable prices listed on various sites like rice-puller.com and others wherein a single note printed in 1982 and/or 1995 is sold for lakhs of rupees

Firstly we all need to understand and agree that a note is considered valuable only if it is very rare and not just because it is very old…

Now as per the Reserve Bank of India, one rupee denomination notes were not printed in the years 1982 and 1995, hence they have a higher value

To understand this in a bit more detail….this means that if by error the Reserve Bank of India printed a few one rupee notes in 1982 and/or 1995 they become priceless.

The 1982 and 1995 one rupee notes should bear the following signatures of the Secretary, Ministry of Finance as per the table mentioned below:

Secretary, Min. of Finance Years

K.G. Ambegaonkar 1950 – 1955
H.M. Patel 1955 – 1958
B.K. Nehru 1958 – 1959
A.K. Roy 1959 – 1960
L.K. Jha 1960 – 1964
S. Boothalingam 1964 – 1966
S. Jagannathan 1966 – 1968
I.G. Patel 1968 – 1972
M.G. Kaul 1972 – 1976
Manmohan Singh 1976 – 1980
R.N. Malhotra 1980 – 1982
M.Narasimham 1982 – 1983
P.K.Kaul 1983 – 1985
S.Venkitaramanan 1985 – 1989
G.K. Arora 1989
Bimal Jalan 1990
S.P.Shukla 1990 – 1991
M.S. Ahluwalia 1991 – 1998

Coming back to the 1995 and 1982 theory….As per the abovementioned list , if you observe closely,

The 1982 one rupee note must bear the signature of R.N. Malhotra or M.Narasimham ONLY

And

The 1995 one rupee note must bear the signature of Montek Singh Ahluwalia ONLY

So any 1982 or 1995 one rupee note does not bear the above-mentioned signature is most probably not what it is supposed to be!!!!

The other aspect of the One rupee notes is that …..all other notes printed between the years 1965 and 1994 have no or very little value.

We at true values computers and Antiques sell loose used notes for

Rupees 100/- per note 1983 - 1994 &
Rupees 200/- per note 1965 - 1981.

So we need to save our energy, time and money and stop trying to sell one rupee notes printed between 1965 -1994 at very high prices(Except the 1964 one rupee note)

The other One rupee notes have some decent value as follows:

1935 - King George V – Antique value (Even a Single note is valuable)
1940 - King George VI – Antique value (Even a Single note is valuable)
1944 - King George VI – Antique value (Even a Single note is valuable)
1949 – Floral Design - Signed By K. R. K. Menon (This was the first note issued after Independence) (Even a Single note is valuable)
1950 – Floral Design - Signed By K. G. Ambegaonkar. (Single note is not really valuable, but a bundle of 100 nos. of notes in consecutive serial numbers and uncirculated condition is valuable)

For the information of people who are new to this field , Floral Design means that an image of a Flower is printed on the reverse side of the note in place of the Circle where normally the year is printed.

1951 (Single note is not really valuable, but a bundle of 100 nos. of notes in consecutive serial numbers and uncirculated condition is valuable)

1952 (Single note is not really valuable, but a bundle of 100 nos. of notes in consecutive serial numbers and uncirculated condition is valuable)

1953 (Single note is not really valuable, but a bundle of 100 nos. of notes in consecutive serial numbers and uncirculated condition is valuable)

1957 Signed By L.K. Jha having ‘B’ Inset (Even a Single note is valuable)

or

1957 Signed by A.K. Roy, B Inset, Z prefix , but the note should be ORANGE IN COLOUR (Even a Single note is valuable)

For the information of people who are new to this field, Talking about the orange 1957 one rupee note signed by A.K. Roy and having B Inset and Z prefix is actually the Persian Gulf Issue which was related to Holy reasons (Haj).

1964 Signed By S. Bhootalingam with B inset and A prefix (Even a Single note is valuable)…These days the 1964 note has become in demand because people have given up hope of finding a genuine 1982 or 1995 one rupee note and have started seeking solace in a 1964 one rupee note….

For the information of people who are new to this field, the large Alphabet is the Inset and the small Alphabet followed by two numbers is the Prefix.

Best of Luck for your search and if you have any queries regarding your currency, please send scanned copies of your paper money to my email id.

Please do not call to sell coins because for the time-being we have stopped purchasing coins, we are dealing in only INDIAN PAPER MONEY.

List of Governors

by santoshyadav, Monday, December 06, 2010, 07:53 PM (4891 days ago) @ santoshyadav

Dear All

Thanks for the appreciation calls,

As per your request, I am also adding the list of Governors ,

For people who are new to this field, I am explaining this in detail.

On a one rupee note, The Secretary, Ministry of Finance’ signature is printed where else on all other denominations of 2 rupees and above the governor’s signature is printed…..

Please don’t get confused or mixed up with the other list for one rupee notes, because if for example Mr. Bimal Jalan was the Secretary, Ministry of Finance in the year 1990
The same person that is Mr. Bimal Jalan was the Governor for the years 1997 to 2003

So, you might have a one rupee note bearing the signature of Mr. Bimal Jalan and since the year is printed only on a one rupee note you can see and tell for yourself that the note was printed in 1990

You may find the same signature of Mr. Bimal Jalan on a Five Rupees note, since the year is never printed on any other denomination other then the one rupee note, with the help of the below mentioned list you will know that the particular Five rupees note was most probably printed between 1997 and 2003.

Governors Years

Sir Osborne Smith 1935 – 1937
Sir James Taylor 1937 – 1943
Sir C. D. Deshmukh 1943 – 1949
Sir Benegal Rama Rau 1949 – 1957
K. G. Ambegaonkar 1957
H. V. R. Iyengar 1957 – 1962
P. C. Bhattacharya 1962 – 1967
L. K. Jha 1967 – 1970
B. N. Adarkar 1970
S. Jagannathan 1970 – 1975
N. C. Sen Gupta 1975
K. R. Puri 1975 – 1977
M. Narasimham 1977
Dr. I. G. Patel 1977 – 1982
Dr. Manmohan Singh 1982 – 1985
A. Ghosh 1985
R. N. Malhotra 1985 – 1990
S. Venkitaramanan 1990 – 1992
Dr. C. Rangarajan 1992 – 1997
Dr. Bimal Jalan 1997 – 2003
Dr. Y. Venugopal Reddy 2003 – 2008
Dr. D. Subbarao 2008 – 2010

PRICELIST - One Rupee

by santoshyadav, Tuesday, December 07, 2010, 02:39 PM (4890 days ago) @ Krimish

Dear All,

Please note that the prices of antique Indian paper money changes almost every other week, for example before diwali all regular one rupee bundles in unc condition consisting of 100 nos. of notes in consecutive serial nos. was of Rs. 3,000/- and now it has fallen down to approximately Rs. 2,000/-

so the prices that I will be quoting will be for this period i.e. 07/12/2010

Some people may have a difference of opinion with regards to my rates, some people might feel that I am quoting a higher or lower price, but this is my own individual selling and buying rates, My source is an auctions site which is into the Indian antique currency auctions business for the past 35 years in Mumbai. I have also taken into consideration actual selling rates on ebay and the market value and the rates that genuine dealers discuss with me almost every other day.

Please note the prices that I will be mentioning will be my selling price…. in 50-60 percent condition of the note i.e. the note will have no tear, no tape and holes other then the regular and normal stapler pin holes.,

prices of bundles will always be approximately in 80-90 percent condition or unc condition

1995 - How to Check

by santoshyadav, Monday, December 13, 2010, 06:36 PM (4884 days ago) @ Rajit Mishra

Dear Rajit,

Hope you are doing well!

Please send me the scanned copy of the note at the email id mentioned at the end of this message, If I will be interested I will call you back.

To Answer your question:

There are various ways to check the authenticity of a one rupee note printed in the year 1995

1) The note should bear the signature of ONLY Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

2) The note should have a genuine watermark, for the benefit of all those people who are new to this field, a watermark is the white portion on the left side of almost every Indian note which usually has an image of Gandhiji or Ashok Stambh …..for all the one rupee notes printed between 1949-1994 the watermark has the image of the Ashok Stambh …you have to keep the note on the table or cover the backside of the watermark portion with your palm …the watermark should not be visible or if the note is in uncirculated condition, the watermark should be very lightly visible…..and when you hold the note against light the watermark of Ashok Stambh should be clearly visible. In short the watermark should be clear only against light…and it should not look like the watermark is printed over the note.

3) There are some 1995 notes having the “5” of 1995 printed over the last “1”of the 1991 one rupee note because the 1 is usually very small, so you need to scratch the 5 very gently to check that issue.

4) There are some 1995 notes wherein the 5 of 1995 is printed over the 1991 one rupee note, but overprinting develops a small dark smudge, you can see that mark/smudge when you hold the note against the light. You need to see the '5' very carefully it should not have a different font or colour from the "199" of 1995

5) There are some notes which are entirely reprinted , in this scenario the notes look and feel extremely wet ..as if they were washed in surf/ariel powder...the print quality of the note is very poor.

6) There are some notes which are made of bond paper, they have no proper watermark…no print quality, absolutely nothing genuine, even a child can make out the note is fake, but still people try to sell that note also.

The size and thickness of the note can also be checked, but then so far nobody has found a genuine 1995 note so the size and thickness has not been officially recorded. However you can compare the note with a 1994 one rupee note for size and thickness.

We sell a 1994 one rupee note for only 100 rupees per note. At your local jewellery market you might get the 1994 one rupee note for much lesser price, maybe just 25-50 rupees per note.

The bank employees can give a fair idea verbally, but no bank employee is ready to give it in writing on the bank’s letter head that the note is genuine or not.

Even after so many tests and precautions people come up with better ideas and make fake notes, it is always advisable to show the note to a reputed antique dealer or the buyer who is willing to buy your note, that way you would be slightly safe.

I say “slightly safe” because ….you never know, your buyer might back out at the last moment.

So the GOLDEN POLICY according to me is to buy a note for a very low price, depending upon your personal financial status, even if the note does not sell, spending the money to buy it should not make a difference to you.

In Indore, M.P. I meet people who try to sell me a 1995 note which does note seem genuine to me, they start with an unbelievable price and at last come down to just 10-25 thousand rupees only…..and again and again…….I tell everyone including those people who come to me…..

GUYS TRY FINDING GENUINE INDIAN CURRENCY BELONGING TO THE TIMES OF THE BRITISH….British Indian currency sells like hot cakes at various auctions happening all over the country…..all you have to do is seek notes having the photo of george or george vi from your elders in the family.

Best of luck for your search!

1995 One Rupee Note

by santoshyadav, Monday, December 27, 2010, 12:09 PM (4870 days ago) @ Supriyo

Dear Supriyo,

Hope you are doing fine!

I am sorry I was not online at the time when you posted your question...or else I would definately have loved to chat/speak with you.

To know more about us and the rates of most of the common notes which fetch a decent price, please click on … ”open in thread” on the right hand upper corner of this page ….and you will see all my articles...and you will know more about all the one rupee notes including the 1995 one rupee note and a few other notes.

There are 4 reasons why we buy at 50 percent:
1) First and formeost reason is like everyone else even we are here to make profit/MONEY.
2) There is never a guarantee that the note which we buy.. will immediately sell and a lot of money is always blocked until we find the right buyer.
3) Please also let me give an example here: If the market price of a one rupee note printed in 1949 is INR Ten Thousand and if we buy for Ten Thousand at what amount will we sell. we are antique dealers and absolutely not antique collectors...everything in my possession related to antique paper money is for sale.
4) last but not the least, whenever we sell an item, we always sell it at a slightly lesser price because we want the other person (irrespective of the fact whether the other person is an antique dealer or antique collector) to make a profit on the item whenever he/she chooses to sell the item and that makes our clients trust us and come back to us for a second deal.

To answer your third question...

if you read the all my above posts:

I am willing to buy your ORIGINAL INDIAN ANTIQUE CURRENCY including 1995 one rupee note, but I will require proper scans and videos.
You will also be required to travel to INDORE, M.P. at your own expense and if for any reason …Me or any of my testers have the slightest doubt …we will not buy your item…..
The worst thing that can ever happen to you while dealing with True value computers and antiques ..is, you will loose is your travel expense only....nothing more ....

Please always quote your price for your product ….don’t inquire/call to just get rates, because I cannot write all the rates of all the indian paper money on rice-puller, to get an approximate price list you will have tospend some money and buy a catalogue for only rupees 4,000/- and once again the market prices keep fluctuating so even acatalogue cannot guarantee 100 percent exact rates.

Santosh Yadav

TESTING SERVICES for INDIAN PAPER MONEY

by santoshyadav, Monday, December 27, 2010, 12:23 PM (4870 days ago) @ Supriyo

Dear Supriyo,

An ORIGINAL 1995 ONE RUPEE NOTE IS PRICELESS!!!!

It depends on the seller and the seller's need/greed ......lol.....and/or the capacity of the buyer to buy, I would not like to reveal my buying capacity until I am satisfied of the fact that the note is 100 percent genuine.

And just to give you a fair idea, I am not just a single person here in Indore, We are a team of professionals including some excellent testers and antique dealers and together we can chip in the funds and we can buy that note for much more then what all other people keep on quoting on rice-puller and various other similar sites.

We also provide testing services for a very decent amount ONLY FOR Indian Paper Money.

So if you feel and believe that you have an original 1995 one rupee note, please send a scanned copy to my email address.

Best of luck!!!!

Info on Governors

by santoshyadav, Tuesday, March 01, 2011, 01:36 AM (4807 days ago) @ bharat

Dear Bharat,

The signature of a particular governor helps us identify the year in which a note was printed.

Dr. C. Rangarajan 1992 – 1997
Dr. Bimal Jalan 1997 – 2003

this simply means:

1996 : Dr. C. Rangarajan
1997 : Dr. C. Rangarajan or Dr. Bimal Jalan
1998 : Dr. Bimal Jalan
1999 : Dr. Bimal Jalan
2000 : Dr. Bimal Jalan

To know about all the governors , all you need to do is click on the "open in thread" on the upper right corner of this webpage and you will find a complete list of all the governors.

And yes the Inset and the prefix also play an extremely important role.

Hope this info was helpful.

Info on Insets and Prefixes for the years 1996 and 2000

by santoshyadav, Wednesday, March 02, 2011, 07:05 AM (4806 days ago) @ bharat

Dear Bharat,

The one rupee and two rupees notes ceased to be printed in the year 1994 itself, now that's a different story that a lot of people are searching for a genuine 1995 one rupee note...so far i have not been able to find a single 1995 one rupee note which i have felt is 100 percent genuine.

Generally people are curious about the Insets and Prefixes of denominations between Rupee One to Rupees Five, However I am giving you details for denominations between Re. 1 to Rs. 10.

If you need info on any other denomination above Rupees 10, please email me at [email protected]

so

Rupee 1 : ceased to be printed in 1994 itself
Rupees 2 : ceased to be printed in 1994 itself
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rupees 5:

A) Notes printed in 1996 :

Signed by C. Rangarajan,

Inset-B,

Prefix - It is difficult to say however as per the records, It could be T, U, V and W

B) Notes printed in 2000 :

Signed by Bimal Jalan,

Inset-Some notes had a plain Inset which means Inset-NOT PRESENT,
A few notes were printed with L and R Inset

Prefix - It is difficult to say however as per the records, It could be A to G.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rupees 10

A) Notes printed in 1996 :

Signed by C. Rangarajan,

Inset- Plain, B, C, D, E, L, M AND R

Prefix - It is difficult to say however as per the records, it could be any one single letter between A TO W (Please note THE LETTERS 'I' AND 'O' are normally never used as a prefix to avoid confusion with one and zero respectively)

B) Notes printed in 2000 :

Signed by Bimal Jalan,

Inset- A, B, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S AND T.

Prefix - It is difficult to say however as per the records, it could be any one single letter between A TO W (Please note THE LETTERS 'I' AND 'O' are normally never used as a prefix to avoid confusion with one and zero respectively)
