As per your request, I am also adding the list of Governors ,

For people who are new to this field, I am explaining this in detail.

On a one rupee note, The Secretary, Ministry of Finance’ signature is printed where else on all other denominations of 2 rupees and above the governor’s signature is printed…..

Please don’t get confused or mixed up with the other list for one rupee notes, because if for example Mr. Bimal Jalan was the Secretary, Ministry of Finance in the year 1990 The same person that is Mr. Bimal Jalan was the Governor for the years 1997 to 2003

So, you might have a one rupee note bearing the signature of Mr. Bimal Jalan and since the year is printed only on a one rupee note you can see and tell for yourself that the note was printed in 1990

You may find the same signature of Mr. Bimal Jalan on a Five Rupees note, since the year is never printed on any other denomination other then the one rupee note, with the help of the below mentioned list you will know that the particular Five rupees note was most probably printed between 1997 and 2003.
